Center Background

In accordance with the Hsinchu Biomedical Science Park Development Plan (approved by the Executive Yuan, Letter No. 1020029539, dated May 30, 2013), the Center serves as a core facility for biomedical research and industrial development. Aligned with the overall development plan of the Hsinchu Biomedical Science Park and in response to future national needs in biomedical advancement, the Park has established three key centers:

"Biomedical Technology and Product Development Center" , "Industrial and Incubation Center" , "Hsinchu Biomedical Science Park Hospital" .

This Center focuses primarily on promoting the growth of the biomedical industry. Unlike general technology incubation centers, it serves as a strategic bridge working in close collaboration with the Park Hospital and the R&D Center to create a comprehensive and integrated ecosystem for biomedical innovation and industrialization.

Park Positioning

  1. The Hsinchu Biomedical Science Park is one of the public infrastructure projects under the “i-Taiwan 12 Projects Industrial Innovation Corridor Initiative. In response to global trends such as energy conservation, carbon reduction, aging populations, and the rise of the creative economy, the government has promoted six emerging industries — with biotechnology as a strategic priority. This Park plays a key role by strengthening industrial R&D capacity, establishing an integrated biotechnology incubation center, and attracting private investment. Through the combined resources of its three major centers, it aims to attract internationally renowned biomedical companies and research institutes, leveraging the advantages of Hsinchu Science Park and Taiwan’s ICT industry to create a synergistic innovation cluster.
The Park serves as a national platform for validating innovative technologies, accelerating industrialization, and positioning Taiwan as a leader in biomedical development.
  2. The Hsinchu Biomedical Science Park operates under the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) as part of the national Science Park System. Its administration, infrastructure, and operations are governed by the Science Park Administration (SPA) in accordance with the Act for Establishment and Administration of Science Parks and related regulations.

Research and Development Facilities

As a knowledge-driven and innovation-oriented science park, the Hsinchu Biomedical Science Park supports the full spectrum of biomedical industrialization. Beyond standard park functions, it provides specialized facilities and services including: "Clinical trial infrastructure and support" , "  Research centers and seed-stage incubation programs" , "Innovation and research networks (facilities and talent)" , "Collaborative clinical research" , "Regulatory consultation and guidance" .

Through shared platforms, open resources, and strong research-industry collaboration, the Park effectively reduces R&D and commercialization costs while increasing the success rate of biomedical startups — ensuring a solid foundation for Taiwan’s biomedical industry ecosystem.

Integrated R&D Ecosystem

The Park has established three major centers in alignment with its mission and functional objectives. Through a collaborative operational model, these centers integrate upstream, midstream, and downstream resources to foster innovation, research, and incubation for the biomedical industry. At the same time, horizontal collaboration mechanisms are built to create a unified biomedical research platform — integrating human resources and financial capital to enhance overall synergy, strengthen Taiwan’s biomedical foundation, and ensure the industry’s sustainable formation and scaling.

The Hsinchu Biomedical Science Park Hospital serves as the driving force behind the Park’s biomedical research and development. By connecting healthcare, research, industry, and daily life, the hospital plays a dual role as both the initiator and the final validator of biomedical innovation. Starting from clinical needs, it stimulates new biomedical research and works closely with the Biomedical Technology and Product Development Center to translate basic research into industrial and commercial applications. It also functions as a validation hub, providing clinical trial settings and verification mechanisms that increase product success rates and strengthen industrial competitiveness.
